STEPHEN WINYARD
Royal National Institute of the Blind is represented on the AMD Alliance International Board of Directors by Mr. Stephen Winyard. Mr. Winyard serves as Past Chair of AMD Alliance International.
Mr. Winyard has been Head of Public Policy at RNIB since 1995, responsible for campaigning and policy activities. He has worked on a wide range of issues including eye health, welfare reform and disability rights legislation. He led RNIB's work to influence the NICE appraisal of PDT treatment for wet AMD and the subsequent campaign for full national implementation of the Guidance. He is currently engaged with the NICE appraisal of Macugen and Lucentis.
In 2003, Mr. Winyard held a visiting fellowship at Nuffield College, Oxford, researching the costs of sight loss in the UK. In 2005, he was responsible for a national campaign to raise awareness of glaucoma and to improve services ("Tunnel Vision", RNIB, 2005). He is currently leading RNIB's "Open Your Eyes" campaign to tackle avoidable sight loss in the UK.
